About the Conference
The ubiquitousness of materials is all pervading. Leapfrogs in materials technological advancement has been made possible by development in the synthesis, processing, performance and
design of existing materials as well as the employment of newly designed ones.
Malaysia has committed much effort in the development of commodity materials such as those from petroleum and agro-based feedstock particularly in the downstream sectors such as oil and gas, power, water, telecommunications, automotive and aerospace depend upon innovations in materials. Materials specialists are needed to design, synthesize and manufacture them into components, test their performance in specific applications and verify their safety in public domains.
All these multifarious functions are found in the materials specialists. Much demand is made from their expertise. It is timely that the public be made aware of their role and contribution to creating wealth for the nation through the synthesis, design and fabrication of new components from many classes of materials as well as that in policy making, safety & health and the environment. In this context the theme of the conference “INNOVATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY” is an apt one to showcase how materials technology has functioned as a catalyst and enabler for innovation in a myriad of other fields, contributing to the well being of its people.
We invite all materials specialists, from industry, government and academia to utilise this platform and give the field its due place of importance in nation building and knowledge generation by contributing papers and presentations in all
fields of materials science, technology and engineering.
